BBC Exposé Sheds Light on Allegations within SCOAN

On January 8, 2023, the BBC aired a three-part series titled “Disciples: The Cult of TB Joshua,” shedding light on widespread abuse and mistreatment within the Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN), one of the world’s largest Christian evangelical churches founded by TB Joshua.

The documentary features testimonies from over 25 former members of the church, detailing claims of rape, forced abortions, physical violence, and alleged fake miracle healings orchestrated by the late TB Joshua, who passed away in June 2021. The exposé also delves into how the church allegedly silenced and attacked those attempting to speak out against the abuse.

Prophet Obey Mukanhairi Accuses BBC of Racism Following TB Joshua Documentary

In response to the BBC documentary, Prophet Obey Mukanhairi directly addressed the broadcaster, expressing his strong disapproval. Mukanhairi, who holds TB Joshua in high regard as his spiritual father, has gained recognition for his previous prophecies, including but not limited to the deaths of AKA, Costa Tich, and Zahara. He also foretold that ZANU PF’s Emmerson Mnangagwa would retain power before Zimbabwe’s harmonized elections held in August last year.

In two separate social media posts, Prophet Obey Mukanhairi launched a scathing attack on the BBC, accusing it of perpetuating a racial narrative that implies white superiority over blacks. He described the BBC documentary as “sickening and useless,” expressing his discontent with what he perceives as a sense of superiority exhibited by the reporting.

“The Useless sense that whites are superior than us keeps them degrading us,the BBC report is quite sickening and useless,” he wrote in one of his Facebook posts.

In another post, he shared a picture of a pastor holding bottles of Savanna cider on the pulpit. The post indirectly questions why the BBC is not investigating the preacher who allegedly uses alcohol to heal his congregants.
