Luveve Man Murdered with Stone for Refusing to Share Cigarette

In a tragic incident, a man lost his life after being hit on the head with a stone during a disagreement over a cigarette.

The suspect, Takunda Mandizvidza, 23, from Luveve suburb in Bulawayo, has been arrested for the murder of 25-year-old Adam Chigwedere.

Details of the Incident

Bulawayo province’s acting police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, shared details of the incident with CITE. The unfortunate event occurred on Tuesday evening at approximately 6 pm.

The situation unfolded when Chigwedere visited his friend in Luveve. Upon discovering his friend in the company of others, including Mandizvidza, Chigwedere asked Mandizvidza for a cigarette. However, Mandizvidza refused, sparking a heated argument.

Luveve Man Murdered For Turning Down Cigarette Request

The disagreement escalated, leading to Chigwedere physically assaulting Mandizvidza with a punch to the mouth. In response, Mandizvidza, in a moment of rage, grabbed a stone and struck Chigwedere on the forehead, causing him to lose consciousness. Mandizvidza then fled the scene.

Chigwedere was quickly taken to Mpilo Hospital, where he was admitted. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday. The police have since arrested Mandizvidza in connection with the incident.

Separate Incident: Arrest Made in Infanticide Case

In another unfortunate incident, Alice Ncube (31) was arrested by police in Lupane in connection with infanticide. Police allege that Ncube hit her three-month-old daughter several times on the head with a cooking stick when the infant started crying while she and her husband were sleeping at Village 3A, Deli, Insuza, on 20/11/23, around 4 am.
