The South Africa Police Service (SAPS) arrested 14 Zimbabweans in Gauteng for travelling without proper documentation. According to the police, they arrested the 14 Zimbabweans after the vehicle driver tried and failed to bribe the police officers to let them pass.

The Gauteng police said that the 14 illegal immigrants, primarily women, had paid the driver R1500 for transportation to Johannesburg. They were all arrested under an operation which has been codenamed O Kae Molao.

In an update, SAPS announced the arrests on social media, saying:

โ€œ14 illegal immigrants traveling from Zimbabwe to Gauteng were arrested by Gauteng police during operation #OkaeMolao. The driver was also arrested for bribery after he offered law enforcement officials an amount of money for them to be allowed to go through.โ€

The 14 Zimbabweans are set to be deported in the next few days.

Following the post from the police, South African nationals applauded the police and called on the authorities to take tough measures against illegal immigrants. They also called on the authorities to investigate and arrest corrupt government officials who may have facilitated the movement of the illegal Zimbabwean nationals.
